Y’all keep trucking along even as the summer winds down and fall approaches. Going forward, I’m gonna do monthly rounds up as we start to wind down for the race season. Please keep sending your race stuff to either Jess or myself so we can share your badassery with the world!! Here’s what I have to share for the past few weeks. Race Roundup: September(ish)

Eesh it’s been a minute since I posted one of these eh? Even though it’s been a week and a half since we ran it, Ragnar took a bit of my time (and yours I’m sure). But, the roundups are back!! We’ve got quite a bit to share so let’s get to it!   On September 7th  we had three teammates take on the Water Gap in Milford, PA. Sean Bethel and Molly Glenn ran the 50k and Stacy Cameron ran the 25k. Stacy crushed the 25k finishing 1st in her age group and 11th overall, kaled it! Molly finished […]

Ragnar Reach The Beach – 2019

Around this time of year, we are usually preparing for Ragnar ADK. Jess just posted a pic (on Facebook and to your right) of last years crew who camped out in her backyard before the race; this year that tradition of tent city ended as Ragnar decided not to put on the ADK event. The show must go on though so it was decided that our Ragnar for 2019 would be where this whole relay thing began, at the Reach The Beach Race. Ragnar’s Reach The Beach has a storied history. Per wikipedia, “The relay was started in 1999 by […]

Sponsor: Berben and Wolff’s

Berben and Wolff’s have been a sponsor before and we are super appreciative of their willingness to rejoin us for this Ragnar. With the huge success of their Albany location, they have recently opened a second in Troy, NY. These guys are doing the vegan thing right and stand behind all their products, which can be found all over the upstate NY area. For a little more on B&W I snatched this info from their website: “From simpler beginnings as vegan food manufacturers and distributors, Joey Berben and Max Wolff have been dedicated to bringing creative and delicious vegan options […]

Sponsor: Burrito Burrito

As if one burrito wasn’t enough (it never is), our next sponsor had to up the ante and open a business called “Burrito Burrito!” That’s not just a name, it’s a monstrous culinary invention. So, what is it? The burrito burrito is an extra stuffed burrito wrapped in a cheddar quesadilla! Ya, wrap you brain (and mouth) around that one!! They aren’t just about the burritos though (blasphemy) but they’ve got all sorts of your fave tex-mex grub! Located in the Quackenbush building at 333 Broadway in Troy, NY the fine folks at Burrito Burrito create tacos, burritos, empanadas and […]

Sponsor: Vegan Outfitters

Recently opened in Troy, NY the Vegan Outfitters is upstate New York’s first 100% vegan clothing store. Susan and Jed Civic, the owners of Vegan Outfitters saw a need for a something like this and just went for it. You can find vegan food just about everywhere nowaday but it’s extremely rare to find a shop that you can go into and know that every item is vegan and cruelty free. Per their website: “At The Vegan Outfitter, we have already done the research and made sure that each and every item we carry is vegan. Many of them are […]

Sponsor: J. Bar

Living here on Cape Cod can be extremely difficult as vegan. As you can imagine, we have a plethora of seafood places, burger joints and everything else. The options are getting better and better but we lack true vegan restaurants. Sure, we’ve got a veggie place in Hyannis but it’s not strictly vegan. So when spring comes, it’s nice to know Erin and J. Bar will be opening up for the season down in Harwich Port. As mentioned on their website, “J. Bar starts with the finest, freshest pesticide-free ingredients available. We then prepare each item using methods which ensure […]

Race Roundup: Late August 2019

We lengthened this post out a bit; you must all be busy training for something and not running a bunch of races??? With that said, as usual, Jaclyn Shockey is in on another roundup! Jaclyn has been doing the “Valley’s Fastest Man/Woman Series Race” over the past few weeks and has put up some amazing results and times. In her words, “And that’s a wrap! The final mile of the Wyoming Valley Striders fastest mile series was this evening, the dreaded Giant’s Despair Hill Climb. 2nd overall female tonight & finished 2nd overall female for the series, 1st for masters, […]

Continuing on with our sponsors for Reach The Beach, Jess had the opportunity to ask our friends at Outdoor Herbivore some questions about them and their business. If you don’t already know, they are the go to for off the grid adventures. Whether you are camping, day hiking or whatever their prepared meals will keep you going!! Just ask Robbie Balenger, his transcon run was fueled by Outdoor Herbivore, amongst others! Please make sure you show some love to Outdoor Herbivore and all of our amazing sponsors! Describe your business in a few sentences. Outdoor Herbivore is the healthier alternative […]

Sponsor: I Heart Keenwah

Running Ragnar events don’t happen without the help of our sponsors. With each one of these posts, it’s our hope you get to know the awesome companies that support us and make it possible to represent veganism the way that we do. Whether it’s a title sponsor, mid-level or even in-kind sponsors they all play a part in making us successful. We put together a few questions to ask each sponsor. I’d like to take a moment to thank I HEART KEENWAH for being an in-kind sponsor and supplying our team with yummy treats to keep us going. I’ve been […]
