We lengthened this post out a bit; you must all be busy training for something and not running a bunch of races???
With that said, as usual, Jaclyn Shockey is in on another roundup!
Jaclyn has been doing the “Valley’s Fastest Man/Woman Series Race” over the past few weeks and has put up some amazing results and times. In her words, “And that’s a wrap! The final mile of the Wyoming Valley Striders fastest mile series was this evening, the dreaded Giant’s Despair Hill Climb. 2nd overall female tonight & finished 2nd overall female for the series, 1st for masters, & first in age group. I’ll take it! It was a fun series & a great way to get in some extra speedwork.” The masters team is absolutely gonna crush all other teams, come Ragnar RTB. The rest of the team is just as amazing as Jaclyn. Way to go, AGAIN!!
Leisa Murphy and Dan Capron made it into this roundup as well. Per Leisa, “I ran the Tromptown Run half marathon on August 8th in DeRuyter,NY. I love this race because it’s beautiful, very low key and it’s uniquely run on a Thursday night! It was very hilly but I was still pleased with my time. I proudly wore my Stronghearts’ singlet and received several comments including, “Go Stronghearts!” and”Go vegan power!” One guy asked me where the rest of the team was because he’s used to seeing a sea of black at races! (Dan) ran the Newport Field Days Kick Off 5K on August 2nd with a time of 20:37, The Woodsmen’s 10K in Boonville on August 16th in 45 minutes, and the Snowmaker 5K in Westerville in 21:30. He’s coming off of an injury and is happy with his progress.” Holy smokes, you two were busy!! Amazing job and love the story of you spreading that SHVP love!!
And last in this weeks roundup is Jess Ryle and Dan Kelly. They both ran the Thacher Park Trail Half in Voorheesville NY. Jess said, “We had perfect weather and trail conditions were great, with some muddy parts. Dan finished 3rd!” Awesome job you two and way to rep the team. Dan, you just keep hitting that podium bro! BOOM!!
